Elmer Rutherford Lamoureux

Elmer R. Lamoureux, 78, affectionately known as El, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of March 16, 2023. He was a native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, born Jan. 4, 1945 to the late Lucien and Edith Lamoureux. After graduating Andrew Jackson High School, El enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 30, 1962 and served his country faithfully for three years, being honorably discharged on July 29, 1965. After his discharge from the U.S. Army, El began a 20 year career in the insurance industry, having worked for New York Life as well as Gulf Life. El loved the Lord, and following his insurance career he began a fulfilling career in ministry. He served as a Chaplain for several Jacksonville hospitals including Shands Jacksonville, Baptist Hospital, and St. Luke’s Hospital. He then went on to serve as an administrator with the Jacksonville Theological Seminary until his retirement. He had a joyous smile and an endearing sense of humor and how he would love spending time with his family and friends. He was a founding member of Reverb Church. El will be remembered for his love of God, the love of his family, and the profound impact he has on the many lives he touched over the years. A Celebration of his Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday March 23, 2023 at Reverb Church, 395 S. Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL 32092. A time of visitation, beginning at 1:00 p.m., will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Kingdom Builders, c/o Reverb Church, 395 S. Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL 32092 He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Lamoureux, Jacksonville; three sons, Kevin Scott Lamoureux and his wife, Cathy, Jacksonville, Bryan Christopher Lamoureux and his wife, Reneé, St. Augustine, Stephen Grant Lamoureux and his wife, Diane, Jacksonville; sister Lucille Bell, Middleburg; brother, James Charles Lamoureux, Jacksonville; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lucien F. Lamoureux Jr., David Roy Lamoureux, and Harley Ray Lamoureux. St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements
