Dorothy Joan Hausch

Dorothy Joan McLaughlin Hausch, born in Trenton, NJ on April 24, 1933, entered the Lord’s eternal protection and love, at her home in St. Augustine, FL on December 19, 2020, surrounded by love. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband Reid with whom she enjoyed a long and loving marriage, her parents Daniel Francis McLaughlin and Dorothy Theresa McLaughlin (Lyons), her brother Lawrence McLaughlin, her dearest friend Anne Claire Davis Hughes and Anne’s son John. Dorothy married Daniel F. Mullen I in 1952 and fulfilled her dream of having children. She is survived by her four children, Patrick Mullen (Sharon), Maureen Brihn, Helen Mullen and Daniel Mullen II. Dorothy was thrilled to become a grandmother and had seven wonderful grandchildren: David Brihn, Daniel Mullen III, Brian Mullen, Meggan Mullen, Kelly Mullen, Jennifer Baek and Uthana Rose (Toni) Sanchez, seven great grandchildren: John (JT) and Nicholas, Hailey and Hannah, Destiny, Sebastian and Jasmire. Dorothy was also blessed with a Great-great Grandson, Zaiden. She leaves many friends and adopted family members including the children of her friend Anne Claire: Michael, David, Francis, Christine, Steven and Walter Hughes and Bonnie Shaw, whom she considered to be her ‘third daughter’. Dorothy had a life-long relationship with the Lord; she was a woman of unshakable faith, she rarely worried as she knew that all things would resolve according to God’s will; she prayed daily and was a member of Daughters of the King at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Costa Mesa, CA. Since moving to Florida, she attended Memorial Lutheran Church in St. Augustine where she felt an immediate sense of belonging and love. She was an amazing mother, kind and generous of spirit, beautiful, talented in crafts, baking and sewing. She was a clever wordsmith and enjoyed “playing” with words (she could define almost any word) which led to her song writing relationship with her husband Reid and their adventure to Nashville where they lived and wrote Gospel and Country Music. The most popular of which was titled ‘Heaven’ and can be found on Jimmy Swaggart’s album Sweet Anointing. Mom, although we grieve your passing, we know that death is not the end but the beginning of a new and joyous journey. We will see you again when the Lord allows. Memorial Service will be at a later date.
