Donna Jean McRorie

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donna Jean McRorie, a dearly beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a cherished and abiding co-worker/”family” member of the staff of St. Johns Family Funeral Home. Donna passed away suddenly, after a brief illness, on July 29th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and a life well-lived. Donna's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a passion for various pursuits. Born on June 16th, 1952, Donna's journey was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her numerous interests. She was a woman of many passions, finding joy in activities that brought her closer to nature and to her creative spirit. One could often find Donna on the tennis court, where she displayed her skill and enthusiasm for the sport she loved. She had a zest for staying active, enjoying leisurely walks, and embracing the beauty of the world around her. Her affection for dogs, particularly corgis was well-known, and her love for her little Sammy was second-to-none. Her companionship with her dogs brought boundless happiness to Donna. Donna's spiritual journey led her to explore the realms of yoga, meditation, and painting. These practices not only nurtured her inner self but also allowed her to express her artistic inclinations. Her appreciation for art in all its forms enriched her life and those around her. In her professional life, Donna displayed her caring nature as she wrote preneed for St. John's Family for 20 years, showing a dedication to detail that the families she served truly felt. Her former career as a barber showcased her skillful hands and her ability to connect with people. Her dedication extended to her role in the church as well, where she served as a former Eucharistic minister. This role added an extra layer of richness to her life, as she found deep meaning in sharing her faith, offering comfort, and fostering a sense of community. Donna's love story with her husband, John McRorie, was one for the ages. Their 22 years of marriage were a testament to their enduring commitment to one another. Their love created a strong foundation for their family, giving them the strength to weather life's challenges together. Donna's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She is survived by her beloved husband, John McRorie, who will always hold her close in his heart. Her daughter, Melissa Page, will remember her mother's love, wisdom, and unwavering support. Donna's spirit also lives on through her other children: Eddie McRorie and wife Alia of Littleton, Colorado; Patrick McRorie of Fairfax, Virginia; and Rachel McRorie of Fairfax, Virginia; her precious grandchildren, Morgan, Liam, Terrell, and Adrian; her nephew, Daniel Fitzgerald, and his wife Shannon of Orlando, Florida, also cherish her memory. As we mourn Donna's passing, let us also celebrate the vibrant life she led and the joy she brought to the lives of those who knew her. Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Thursday August 10, 2023 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. A visitation beginning at 5:00 PM will precede the services.
