Dennis Wilbert Williamson

Dennis W. Williamson, 83, passed away on April 30, 2024, at his residence. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and a passion for life and learning that touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was born on January 1, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Wilbert W. and Mary Williamson. He answered the call to serve his country with honor and distinction, proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. His commitment to duty and his fellow servicemen never wavered, earning him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him. Before his military service, Dennis pursued higher education and graduated from DePaul University, where he cultivated lifelong friendships and a deep appreciation for learning. He was a devoted season ticket holder for DePaul University basketball, cheering on his beloved team with unwavering enthusiasm and loyalty. A dedicated professional, Dennis enjoyed a successful career as a certified public accountant and financial controller before moving to Florida 22 years ago. In his leisure time, Dennis found solace in the pages of a good book and the challenge of Sudoku puzzles. He had a thirst for knowledge and a love for intellectual pursuits that never faded, inspiring those around him to embrace the joys of lifelong learning. Well after his career was established, that love of learning included obtaining an MBA from Roosevelt University. Dennis will be deeply missed by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Williamson, St. Augustine; three sons, Richard Williamson (Donna Stone), Tallahassee, Brian Williamson (Michelle), Boca Raton, Dr Michael Williamson (Diana Chung), Copenhagen, Denmark; sister, Sharon Mirshak, Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Sarah, Victoria, Brianna, Sejong, and Hessong. A funeral Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church at 9 am on May 13th. A celebration of life will occur at the family's home shortly afterwards. He will be interred at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
