Dawn Rebecca Storey

Dawn Rebecca Storey, 71, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on August 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 10, 1954, in Sanford, Florida, Dawn later made Jacksonville her home before moving to St. Augustine nine years ago, where she continued to build lasting friendships and enjoy life with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Gazil; her mother, Harriett Abney; and her brother, Joe "Bo" Gazil. Dawn enjoyed a successful career in the banking industry, where she worked as a Title Processor until her retirement. She was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and the genuine kindness she extended to coworkers and customers alike. A woman of steadfast faith, Dawn attended Turning Point at Calvary and was an active member of the Battle Buddies Bible Study group. Her church family and her relationship with God were a source of comfort, strength, and joy throughout her life. An avid sports enthusiast, Dawn especially loved golf and tennis. She also participated in multiple Gate River Runs, reflecting her lifelong commitment to staying active and embracing every opportunity to enjoy life. She was also a devoted and proud pet mom, whose animals were cherished members of her family. Above all, Dawn treasured the time she spent with those she loved. She will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Her legacy of compassion, perseverance, and grace will live on in the many lives she touched. She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Douglas Lee Storey of St. Augustine; her daughter, Lauren Storey of St. Augustine; and her sisters, Gail Diamond and Star Douglas, both of Sanford, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in Ruth's Chapel at Turning Point at Calvary. Visitation, beginning at 10:00 a.m., will precede the services. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing to honor Dawn's memory may make a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society.
