Clifford Elmore

Clifford Elmore, age 77, of St. Augustine, passed away on July 2, 2025, at his home in St. Augustine, FL. Clifford was born on May 10, 1948 in St. Augustine, FL,to Eddie and Queen Esther (nee Salley) Elmore and was a lifelong resident of St.Augustine. He grew up in a tight-knit family of five brothers and one sister. He was a 1967 graduate of Richard J. Murray High School. Fond of basketball, he played in his youth and continued to compete in the 30 and over league with the Mean Machine. In his early working career he worked for Flagler Hospital before going to work for the Wise Potato Chip Company in St. Augustine where he worked for several decades, until the plant closed in the 1990's. Lastly, Clifford worked for St. Johns County Court House. Clifford's faith was nurtured at St. Paul AME Church where he was a lifelong member. As his health declined he was limited in his attendance. One of his most important purposes in his life was being the father of 4 daughters. Though he was happy to be a "girl dad" and a grandfather to granddaughters, he especially enjoyed the arrival of grandsons. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time whenever he could. Clifford was a sharp dresser and was known for his great sense of humor. He was a straight talker and a great story teller with an encyclopedic memory. He enjoyed gatherings with friends and family and he loved to make people laugh. An avid sports fan, Clifford enjoyed following the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. He would take in local softball games to indulge in his love of sports. Clifford also enjoyed traveling and partaking in cultural events. One of his proud travels was to see his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was deeply loved and appreciated by his family and friends. He and his infectious laugh will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his first born, Pamela Elmore-Harvey, and his siblings Eddie Jr., John Sr., Dorothy Mae Johnson,Thomas and Drelly Sr. and his godson, Tarek Odom. He is survived by his daughters, Pascha Hancock of Palm Coast, Lashaunda Preston and Cynequa Elmore, both of St. Augustine; grandchildren, Ashley (Anthony), Jessica, Joseph,Eboney, Jalen, Dasiah, and DeShaun; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, sister-in-law, Bertha Elmore, godbrother, George Jackson, dear friend, Charles Lewis, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at St. Paul AME Church with the Rev. Dr. Alecia Ford-Burse officiating. Interment will follow at Craig Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 on Friday, July 11, 2025 at St. Paul AME Church. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
