Clarence Perkins

Clarence Perkins, a beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 72. Born July 21, 1952, the son of Benjamin and Rachel Perkins, Sr., in St. Augustine, Florida., Clarence grew up with a strong spirit, great charisma and marched to the beat of his own drum. He lived his life unapologetically on his own terms and freely spoke his mind. Despite his ability to test patience, Clarence had a heart of gold who deeply loved and cherished his family and friends. He also believed in the power of giving and was a steadfast supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. While Clarence had a knack for saying and doing the unexpected, his presence was undeniable, and unforgettable and his life journey represented the ever-present reminder of the resilience of the human spirit. Clarence's hobbies included reading and fishing and he was a whiz at playing cards. In addition to his mother and father, Clarence was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell, Benjamin Jr., Ronald, James, and Bruce Perkins, and sisters, Jeanette Duncan and Rose Lyons. Clarence leaves to cherish his memories: Son, Kassiem (Jennifer) Gibson Palm Coast, FL. Brother, Charles Perkins of Miami, FL. Sisters, Diane White of Hastings, FL., Evelyn, Owens of St. Augustine FL., and Deborah (Vincent) Mitchell of St. Augustine FL. He had a host of nephews and nieces who loved him dearly, along with cousins, and friends. In honor of Clarence’s wishes, a private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Augustine FL. The family invites friends and loved ones to share in a casual lunch at St. Luke’s AME Church located at 694 Pearl St, St. Augustine FL on January 25, 2025, at 2:30 pm. This gathering will be an opportunity to share memories and fellowship as we celebrate Clarence who meant so much to so many. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/) will be appreciated.
