Charles Ronald Wooten

Charles Ronald Wooten, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the community, passed away on June 4, 2024, at his home in St. Augustine, Florida, at the age of 69. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Charles spent his formative years in Meridian and Vicksburg before moving to Carthage, where he graduated from South Leake High School in 1973. After high school, Charles pursued his education with dedication, earning his Associate of Arts from East Central Jr College, followed by a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. Later in life, his thirst for knowledge led him to further his studies, and he attained a Masters of Business from the University of Phoenix in 2003. In 1974, Charles married the love of his life, Frances Callahan, whom he had met during their high school years at church. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Charles dedicated himself to both education and service. He began his career teaching junior high for three years while also coaching football at Lake High School. Later, he transitioned to the corporate world, spending 28 years with Pepsi in MS and TN before moving on to Coca-Cola in FL for 11 years. Ultimately, he found his niche at Vistar a division of Performance Food Group, where he served as a regional sales manager for 9 years until his well-deserved retirement in 2022. Beyond his professional endeavors, Charles was a man of many passions. He found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was fishing on serene waters, cruising the open road on his beloved Harley-Davidson, strumming melodies on his guitars, crafting intricate wood carvings, auctioneering, creating and showing magic ticks or mastering the art of culinary delights in the kitchen. His ingenuity and resourcefulness were unparalleled; there was no problem he couldn't solve or broken object he couldn't mend. A dedicated member of the Ancient City Harley Riders, Charles embraced the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts, serving as the New Member Coordinator and a Road Captain. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his community endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his wife, Frances Wooten; children, Christina Wooten, Jacob Wooten (Kayla) and Casey Wooten-Smith (Brian); mother, Joyce Faye Wooten; grandchildren, Annsley, Tyler, Caroline and Canah and his siblings, Rick Wooten, Regina Watkins and Rodney Wooten. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Charles Wooten. Charles Ronald Wooten will be deeply missed by his loving family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Though he may have left this world, his legacy of kindness, resilience, and zest for life will continue to inspire those who were touched by his presence. A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. He will be buried at his family cemetery, Wooten Family Cemetery on Saturday June 8 at 2PM. Celebration of Life will be immediately following graveside service at 4784 Estes Mill Rd. May Charles rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives he enriched with his boundless spirit and unwavering compassion.
