Charles Franklin Fulkerson

Charles F. Fulkerson "Woodman" our beloved daddy, husband, papa, uncle, and brother went to heaven to rejoin our mom & other heavenly family on February 15, 2023. Born 8/31/1939 to William Sylvester & Mattie (Agnes) Jarrett Fulkerson in Cannelton, IN. He graduated from Cannelton High School in 1958. After graduation, he joined the U.S Army completing basic training in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He attended A-school at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. In late 1958 he left Seattle Washington onboard the USS General W.A. Mann (T-AP-112) bound for Korea. While in Korea, he served in the 1st Calvary Division, 3rd Medium Tank Battalion, 40th Armor. After his tour in Korea, he returned home again on the USS General W.A. Mann T-AP. He attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1961. After a few months of being back home his brother William (Red, Bill) Fulkerson came to Florida and opened Fulkerson Towing. He worked for Gordon Middleton, building potato harvesters from 1961-1965, Fulkerson Towing 1965, Goodyear 1965-1966 (as Dad would say they were laying off people, and a lady had children, so he took her place so she could keep her job), Boatyard Desco & St Augustine Boatyard 1966 - 1969. El Rancho as Forman, of a 300-acre cattle ranch for Hamilton & Elizabeth Davis 1969 until 1985. W.D. Dupont for one year, Grumman for 15 years 16 days, and from 1985 until a few years ago he would be selling, cutting, and delivering firewood. A lot of people know him as the WOODMAN on SR 207. In June of 2021 his home was sold to where the new Publix is on SR 207. He is preceded in death by his parents William Sylvester & Agnes Fulkerson, brothers William A. (Red, Bill) Fulkerson of Hastings, Fl, Donald (Ray) Fulkerson, Kenneth E. Fulkerson of Cannelton, IN, and his loving wife of 52 years Evelyn B. Fulkerson. Survived by his daughters, Jeannie (Ralph) Richards Hastings, Charlotte (Jared) Hull Jr. St. Augustine and Kimberly Smith, Georgia; sister, Marjorie (Bill) Nichols, Bean Station, Tennessee; grandchildren, Garret (Brianna) Richards Jacksonville, Christopher Thomas Jr. Hastings, Amber Kidd Gainesville, FL, Cheyenne (Ryan) Bates, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC; adopted grandchildren, Jackie Allen, and Amberlee Robinson; great grandchildren, Carlee, Kayson, Makayla and Kane. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 24, 2023 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with interment to follow at Pellicer Creek Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home.
