Catherine Elsie Martini

Catherine Crispens Horne Martini, aged 92, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, in St. Augustine, Florida. Born in Queens, NY, she grew up in Glendale, NY, where she attended Sacred Heart Grammar School. During her lifetime, Catherine experienced the joys and challenges of raising a family. In her first marriage, she lovingly welcomed five children into the world, though one sadly departed in infancy. Catherine devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, creating a warm and nurturing home for them in Richmond Hill and later in Rockaway Beach, New York. Though Catherine held various positions throughout her life, including roles as a retail clerk and a messenger for a brokerage company, her true passion lay in her role as a mother. Her children were the center of her world, and she poured her love and energy into guiding and supporting them. After her children had grown and started families of their own, Catherine embarked on a new adventure, traveling across the United States to attend shows by her favorite performer, Jim Nabors. Who later became a good personal friend. They enjoyed lunches together and corresponded over the years. She enjoyed his music immensely. In her later years, Catherine relocated to St. Augustine to be closer to family. She would attend mass at San Sebastian Catholic Church weekly; however as her health declined she could no longer attend in person. She keep her faith strong by watching mass on TV twice a day and would pray to the Blessed Mary. Catherine's legacy is one of love, faith, and devotion. She leaves behind cherished memories and a profound impact on all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her surviving children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. A mass in honor of Catherine's life will be held at San Sebastian Catholic Church at 11 am on Friday, June 14, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Catherine's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. She is survived by her children, Catherine Rhodes, Robert Horne (Maria), Cheryl Horne-Muir (Marcus), Christine Rominger (Perry); brother, John Crispen; grandchildren, Alexander Dawerdt, Katrina Black, Anna Horne-Krikes(Alexander), John Horne, Caroline Horne, Robert James Horne; great grandchildren, Chase and Destinee Black and countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Martini; daughter, Caroline Lee Horne; brothers, Fred and George Crispens and sister, Gerry Brendell.
