Carl Ivan Duncan

Carl Ivan Duncan, 77, of St. Augustine, passed away on April 23, 2024, at UF Health Flagler Hospital. He leaves behind a legacy of bravery, dedication, and love that will forever be treasured by those who knew him. Born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, Carl later moved to Lexington, Kentucky, during his high school years, where he graduated from Bryan Station High School. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Judy Lynn Crouch, whom he married before bravely answering the call to serve his country. Carl served in the Army as a Pathfinder during the Vietnam War. His courage and commitment to duty were unwavering, and he served his country with honor and distinction. Carl left active duty as a Sergeant and continued his service in the Army National Guard, where he served as Crew Chief in a medevac unit. After his military service, Carl embarked on a successful career as a data communications specialist for GTE and Bellsouth, where his expertise and dedication were highly regarded until his retirement. Throughout his life, Carl's love and devotion extended to his family, whom he raised in Burgin, Kentucky, creating cherished memories and instilling values that will endure through generations. In 2003, Carl retired to St. Augustine, where he continued to serve his community by working for the City of St. Augustine at the parking garage. He found joy in his work and made many lasting friendships along the way. Carl was a true sportsman and aviator at heart. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, riding his Harley & cruising in his corvette. After earning his private pilot’s license, he enjoyed flying with family and friends for many years. Along with his wife Judy, he was active with the Antique Auto Club community. Carl will be deeply missed by his children, Christopher Duncan and Cherri Klesch (Todd), his grandchildren, Hannah Duncan, Hunter Duncan, Lauren McMahon and Aisling McMahon; siblings, Denise Duncan and Alan Duncan (Terri), close family member Patrick McMahon, many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Duncan. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. Carl's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his bravery, kindness, and unwavering love for his family, friends and community.
