Barbro Pellborn Tadlock

Barbro Pellborn Tadlock, 85, St. Augustine, Florida, died on August 1, 2022 at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Florida. Barbro was born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden, graduating with honors from high school and teachers’ college. She was an elementary school teacher in Sweden before she met, fell in love with, and, in 1961, married her American pen-pal, Warren. On April 9th, 1963 she became an American citizen, a day she proudly celebrated annually. She bravely set off from Sweden, starting a married life filled with travel and adventure. She lived in Liberia, Yemen, and Laos before moving with her family to St. Augustine, Florida in 1975. In St Augustine, she worked as a Business Manager for the Lightner Museum from 1977-1983, then as a guide for the Sanchez house on St George Street. She served as a substitute teacher at a variety of elementary schools and volunteered her time in the community with the Friends of the Library. She was a woman of immense integrity, had a passion for language and learning, while also being artistic and creative. She built and fostered many friendships over the years through her work, travel, fellowship with her Monday Swedish group, and various hobbies to include quilting, scrapbooking, bridge, and genealogy research. A pen-pal at heart, she continued to write to her Swedish childhood friends and family, and kept in touch with many families from her time overseas. She will be most remembered by her family for her unconditional love, kindness, honesty, humility and contagious smile. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday September 4, 2022 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please say the Lord’s Prayer, her favorite prayer, that she may rest peacefully with our Father who is in heaven. Interment will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Tadlock, and parents Otto Ragnar Pellborn and Hildur Margareta Hörnström (Pellborn). She is survived by two children, Michael D. Tadlock (Michele), Keystone Heights; Ann M. Burkhardt (Michael Sr.), Ponte Vedra; brother, Lars Åke Pellborn (Birgitta), Stockholm, Sweden; grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Becca), Rachel, Julie, Amy, and Paul. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
