Barbara Ann Kenny

Barbara Inglese Kenny, 81, of Brick NJ, passed away peacefully from cancer early Wednesday January 26, 2022, with family by her side in St. Augustine, Florida. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years Michael J Kenny Jr. St. Augustine was a favorite destination of theirs and it will be their final resting place together. Barbara was born September 6, 1940 to Albert and May Inglese, raised in the St. Nicholas of Tolentine community of the Bronx, NY, along with her surviving siblings Jeanne McGuinness and Richard Inglese, as well as her deceased older brother Albert and youngest sister Marie. She married the love of her life Michael in 1960 and together raised their four children in Suffern, NY. Their children and spouses Christine and Timothy Dooley of Jacksonville, FL, Michael and Lisa Kenny of Brick, NJ, Joanne and Jack Garvey of Robbinsville, NJ and Stephen and Cam Kenny of Jacksonville, FL. take comfort in their parents reunion. Barbara is also survived by her seven adored grandchildren, Patrick, John, Kyle, Corinne, Sean, Michael and Claire and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close relatives. Barbara’s love also extended to many longtime friendships that she cherished and with whom she shared great memories. She especially enjoyed her New York sports teams, crossword puzzles, family gatherings, being a Nana, cooking for others and the many vacation trips with family and friends. A woman with a strong faith in God and the power of prayer, Barbara was a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Church, bringing Holy Communion to nursing home residents in the Suffern, NY area. She now joins the angels she always felt watched over us all. Always thinking of others first, her kindness and caring shined through, in both her generosity to others and in support of organizations special to her like The Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. In lieu of flowers a donation to any of these, your own special charitable organization, or just a simple act of kindness in her name would mean much more to her. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Friday February 18th, at 11:00am followed by a committal service at the Columbarium of St. Anastasia both located at 5205 A1A South, St. Augustine, FL 32080. A reception will be held after services at The Beacon, 830 Anastasia Blvd. St. Augustine, FL 32080. Mass will be live streamed from the St. Anastasia Church website, saccfl.org.
