John Redecki, age 75, of St. Augustine, died on November 19, 2009 at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 27, 1934, he was the son of John P. Redecki and Jennie Malinowska Redecki. He was a 1952 graduate of Wilmington High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. In 1960, John graduated from East Carolina College, relocated to Annandale, Virginia and began employment with the Department of Defense. He married Jeannette Grant on November 17, 1962. John retired from the Defense Logistics Agency in 1989 and moved to St. Augustine in 1991.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeannette Grant Redecki of St. Augustine; daughters, Jeanne Jon Redecki of Alexandria, VA and Jennifer Carretta and her husband Anthony of Lake Worth, FL; as well as two grandsons, Taylor Anthony and Kevin Paul Carretta.
A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Willliam C. Mooney officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
