Biography

Inalee “Lee” Koonin, age 74, of the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, died on November 19, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Washington, D.C. and had been a resident of St. Augustine since 2004, moving here from Highland, Maryland. Lee served as C.E.O. of JA-Mar Flooring Inc. in Bethesda, Md. for 20 years. She spent much of her life courageously battling the debilitating effects of Crohns Disease and through perseverance and discipline, she restored her health and lived a wonderfully productive life. She co-founded the Lifeline Foundation (now the Oley Foundation) and through her efforts, many lives have benefitted from the advances discovered in the treatments that she endured.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Marshall “Mike” Koonin of St. Augustine, a daughter, Susan Koonin and her husband Joseph Buczynski of Potomic, Md.
Service will be held at 11:00 on Sunday, Nov. 22, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Rabbi Robert A. Goodman officiating. A visitation of family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, one hour prior to the service.
